The need for reliable VoIP solutions

The solv team needed a modern VoIP solution to manage communication among their busy team. They have a large team including office workers and engineers who are constantly on the go. It wasn’t just about technical needs for solv – it was also about service. Their existing provider just wasn’t providing the proactive support they needed. Outages and technical issues went unresolved. solv pride themselves on outstanding customer service, so any outages in their phone system are a huge problem. They needed a more reliable provider. So, they turned to Barclay Communications.

Turning to a trusted provider

We already had a longstanding relationship with the team at solv. We’d been their business mobile provider for 15 years, supporting their journey throughout. As a fellow Belfast business and a provider of a full range of telecom services, we were a natural choice.

Addressing connectivity challenges

After we consulted solv, it became clear that their unreliable internet connection was the cause of many of their previous issues. Here, we should briefly explain that VoIP stands for “voice over internet protocol”. In plain English, this means phone calls routed over the internet instead of a traditional phoneline. It’s increasingly becoming the standard way for businesses to communicate. But in order to work, it requires a reliable internet connection. In addition to their phone system, they use many cloud-based services in their day-to-day work. Since cloud services are accessed over the internet, this further reinforced the need to provide a more stable internet connection.

Modernising their communications

This was a hybrid workplace, with a Belfast office team as well as field engineers travelling around Northern Ireland. Phonelines in the Belfast office are busy all day with enquiries from new and existing customers. They need to be able to manage those calls quickly and efficiently, and they also need to maintain their great standards at all times. We provided a solution to meet all those needs. We recommended a cloud phone system that ran all calls over their bolstered internet connection. For training, monitoring and record-keeping purposes, we included call recording too. All of this is cloud-based, so they can quickly listen back to recordings via a web browser.

Service and relationships
